GrainGrowers is a national grain farmer representative organisation with 17,000 grower members across Australia. Our vision is a more efficient, sustainable and profitable grains industry for all Australian grain farmers. GrainGrowers welcomes this opportunity to provide feedback to the Modernising the RDC System review.
Research, Development and Extension (RD&E) is essential to underpin the sustainable growth and profitability of the grains sector. The Grains Research Development Corporation (GRDC) spends around $200 million every year on RD&E and growers need this investment to translate to real improvements to their farm profitability. Growers recognise that both transformational and incremental research is required to drive profitability, and that research takes time and involves risk. Growers seek strong governance, accountability and demonstrable value from their levy funds invested.
