As more growers join the ISCC, there are a few questions about the requirements and the auditing process.

If you are considering ticking the ISCC box when you deliver grain this harvest, keep in mind that the scheme has a list of requirements and you can be audited for compliance.

Research engineer Ben White has unpacked this topic a little further. Watch the video below to hear from Ben about the requirements and the auditing process.

What is the ISCC?

The International Sustainability and carbon certification (ISCC-EU) has operated in Australia for over ten years, initially to enable access to the EU biodiesel market for canola. It provides assurance to the market that our grain meets all the market’s requirements, and this is underpinned by an independent audit process.

It’s generally worked well and has enabled growers to access to this premium market, but we are seeing the requirements increase as the EU demands more from suppliers.

Changes to ISCC as of December 2022

While many requirements are just good practice, there are some recent changes about pollinators and stubble burning restrictions, which started on 1 December 2022 that you should know about before you sign up.

Watch the video above for more info.
