The pool of growers with the skills necessary to contribute to industry boards and committees has gotten even deeper with five growers selected to participate in the 2024 GrainGrowers OnBoard director program.

The successful applicants for the program are:

  • John Even – Goomalling, WA
  • Lou Flohr – Lameroo, SA
  • Emma Langfield – Yannergee, NSW
  • Oscar Pearse – Moree, NSW
  • Meg Rice – Billa Billa, QLD

The program, which has operated since 2021, provides a range of skills training in addition to funding participants to complete the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) course.

GrainGrowers CEO Shona Gawel said it was exciting to see a new group of participants selected to start the course.

"The course is a great opportunity for growers to step forward and build expertise that can be used to contribute to the future development of our industry and the wider community."

Ms Gawel said the program continued building a talent pool to allow growers' voices to be heard effectively across various industry bodies and community organisations.

"Over the past few years, many of our OnBoard participants have taken up Board and committee positions."

"One member of our inaugural intake, Ashleigh Brooks from Dimboola in Victoria, has recently been appointed to the GrainGrowers Board, where we look forward to her contribution to the organisation's future development."

The first training session for the group will take place in March 2024.
