GrainGrowers Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be taking place virtually on Wednesday 15
September and grower members across the country are being encouraged to take part in voting for Board Directors in the Northern Region and to have their say on a proposed constitution change.

“We have two exceptional candidates, Nigel Corish and Ian Gourley whose skills and experience will enable the GrainGrowers Board to continue focussing strategically on improving the profitability and sustainability of growers.” said Brett Hosking, GrainGrowers Chair.

“I’m often asked what makes GrainGrowers unique from other advocacy groups and it is a simple
answer, our farmers. Unlike other groups our only members are farmers themselves and this is reflected through the Grower Directors on our Board.”

“It’s great to have such quality incoming candidates for the two positions, following the retirement from the Board of our experienced Northern Region Director, Andrew Carberry. Andrew has made an enormous contribution to the Australian grains industry.”

Nigel who farms near Goondiwindi, Queensland has served on the GrainGrowers Board for the past three years and is committed to an innovative and progressive grains industry.
Ian’s farming enterprise is near Narrabri, northern New South Wales. Ian has been an integral part of the GrainGrowers National Policy Group for several years and is focussed on finding solutions to the challenges growers face on-farm.

“We are also asking members to consider some proposed changes to our constitution,” said Hosking. “As the organisation has evolved, the current Constitution needed an update, so we’ve outlined these in detail for our members to consider.”

The GrainGrowers AGM will be an opportunity for grower members to hear updates on work that has taken place on their behalf over the past twelve months including the introduction of a new grower program “On Board” that is seeking to more farmer representation in boardrooms around the country as well as initiatives like the Australian grains industry’s Sustainability Framework.
“GrainGrowers has been working hard over the past year delivering for grain farmers across Australia as their peak body, and we’re continuing to go from strength to strength in line with our vision of driving a more profitable and sustainable grains industry for the benefit of Australian grain farmers.
