GrainGrowers has welcomed the appointment of the new Liberal party leadership team, with Sussan Ley becoming the first woman appointed to the role and Ted O’Brien taking the position of deputy leader.
Chair Rhys Turton said that as an apolitical organisation, the GrainGrowers approach is always to constructively engage with Government, the Opposition and decision-makers.
“Good government requires a strong Opposition, and we look forward to playing our part in representing the needs of our industry and fostering positive engagement with the rural sector by all our elected representatives.”
Mr Turton said it was fitting that Ms Ley holds the electorate of Farrer - named after William James Farrer, an agriculturist who helped found the Australian wheat industry.
