Western Australia played host to GrainGrowers’ first grower events for 2026 and it’s fair to say the west did not disappoint.

Fresh from another record-breaking harvest, WA growers and industry stakeholders took the opportunity to attend the events and reflect on another big season, while also covering the challenges and opportunities 2026 may bring.

Global grain prices was a common theme raised by members throughout the events, while rising import costs and a focus on ongoing trade and market access were also prominent.

First up on the calendar was the WA Sundowner Event in Perth, which was attended by the Hon. Jackie Jarvis, WA Minister for Agriculture and Food; Fisheries; Forestry; Small Business; Mid West, along with a host of WA growers and industry stakeholders.

In addressing the crowd, Chair Rhys Turton spoke of GrainGrowers’ continued focus on advocacy to ensure the interests of growers are represented in the national policy conversation, while also developing the next generation of industry leaders through the Australian Grain Leaders Program and OnBoard.

Meanwhile, Minister Jarvis spoke of the important contribution the industry makes to the state and national economies and the strong relationship between GrainGrowers and the Western Australian Government.

The show rolled on to Borden in the Great Southern region on Wednesday night, where the GrainGrowers team hosted local growers for a general update and a presentation from Claire House about a local nitrogen trial.

The week’s events finished with a morning tea in Kojonup, where WA Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s Stacey Power provided an update on High Rainfall Zone Project Trials and Hollie Mackie from FARMANCO gave a general market update.

GrainGrowers thanks everyone who attended the events and our hosts at each location for their hospitality.
