GrainGrower members have elected three Directors to the Board – one to the Southern Region and two to the Western Region – at the Annual General Meeting 2023 held today in Perth.

Ashleigh Brooks was elected as Director, Southern Region, with Rhys Turton and Richard Konzag being elected as Directors, Western Region.

Ms Brooks, who has not previously been on the GrainGrowers Board, operates a broadacre cropping business through a family partnership in the central Wimmera in Victoria, growing cereals, canola and pulses. She has worked in the industry for almost 20 years, including national marketing and strategy positions, with supply chain engagement integral to those roles. Ashleigh believes the GrainGrowers voice is integral to grain farming families, businesses, local communities, and regional Australia.

Current Board member Rhys Turton was first elected in 2017 and is a grain grower from York, Western Australia, where he grows various crops, including cereals, pulses, canola and hay. He was elected Chair in November 2022.

Richard Konzag was previously elected in 2020 and is based in Mallala, South Australia, where he grows various cereals, pulses and oilseeds.

GrainGrowers Deputy Chair, Nigel Corish and CEO Shona Gawel congratulated the elected members of the Board.

Mr Corish said the elected members bring a collective wealth of knowledge and experience to the table.

“I look forward to working with them to address the issues impacting our industry and deliver real outcomes for our members throughout Australia.”

Ms Gawel said she was genuinely excited by the pool of talent in our Board and management team.

“Combined with our National Policy Group members and our members and supporters, a strong Board places us in an excellent position to undertake constructive work across several policy

areas,” Ms Gawel said.
